Note on Husband: Harry JUDD - shared note

Harry Judd was born at Curbridge on the 24th. of March 1874. His parents were Albert Judd and Frances Mary Ann [nee Eastman]

He had a brother George his elder by a year, but probably didn't remember much about him as George died a year later.

A further year on another brother was born, Albert Francis, but he succumbed to measles three years later, in October 1879, so it must have been a very sad time for the growing Harry, especially as another little brother aged only four months had died in the May of the same year.

Small wonder that he kept a Birthday Book of other members of his extended family. He recorded the Birthday of Uncle George Eastman on April 22nd, and Willie Eastman Senior on June 26th.

There was Grandmother Eastman on April 27th, and Aunt E. Wheeler

on March 25th.

George Thomas Blake Junior had a Birthday on July 21st, and his cousins,

and Aunties and Uncles in the Hunt Family at Millbrook were all carefully noted. They were Annie Hunt, on December 26th, who later became Mrs.Meacher.

Florence Hunt born November 24th, who became Mrs.Thoms.

Emmie Hunt born November 18th, and Uncle Alick Hunt born November 12th

as well as his namesake born Alexander Hunt on March 9th.

Further members of the family were Polly Hunt born on October 13th,

and Fred Hunt on March 5th.

At 17 Harry was a Grocer's Assistant living quite close to the Horse and

Jockey "Pub",in Curbridge Road. Nr. Botley. Hants.

In the 1901 Census for Southampton, Harry was living with his "cousin" Frederick H. Hunt, at 10 Upper Liverpool Street Southampton, which was off the Inner Avenue. [Civil Parish of Shirley] He was described as a General Labourer.

On the 16th. of September 1901, Harry married Charlotte Caroline Blake from Radcliffe Rd. Northam, Southampton. The marriage took place at Holy Trinity Church, Southampton. [Now Demolished]

Further additions to his Birthday Book, include his wife's relations, a family related to G.E.Prince & Sons Ltd. [Builders in Southampton]

They were Elizabeth Fanny Wheeler, born February 9th and Aunt E. Wheeler.

Harry was employed for many years,as a shipping clerk and provedore, for

The Royal Mail Steam Packet Company Limited, for The Southampton Isle of Wight and South of England.

On May the sixth 1915, Harry applied to Christ's Hospital School [which had moved from London to Horsham Sussex in 1902] for a place for his son Harold. In this he stated that he had been resident in Southampton for 14 years. The application was not successful.

Harry Judd died on April the 1st. 1934.

Details of his funeral were printed in the Local paper.
