George Eastman was described as a labourer of Shirley Millbrook District Southampton. Hants. when he married Mary Anne Hunt, at South Stoneham Register Office, on the 22nd of March 1840.

He was the son of John Eastman Innkeeper, of full age and a bachelor.

His wife also of full age, was the daughter of John Hunt bricklayer, and

a spinster.

She was working as a serving woman. Maybe she had worked for George's father ?

George signed his name but Mary Anne made an x for her mark.

Their witnesses were Henry and Eliza Taplin.

When their son John was born in Millbrook [September 27th1840] six months after the marriage, George gave his occupation as a " Smith", and at his daughter's baptism in 1842, he gave the full description of Blacksmith.

Mary Ann registered John's birth 3 days after the event.

He continued his work as a Smith, appearing as such on Henry's Birth Certificate in 1847.

At the time of his daughter's marriage he was working as a Blacksmith in Shirley.

Mary was described as a serving woman on the marriage certificate and signed with her mark "X"

Possibly born on April 27th according to her grandson Harry's Birthday Book.

Mary Anne was living in Shirley, Millbrook district, working as a Serving Woman, at the time of her marriage in 1840, to George Eastman, son of an Inn Keeper.

Mary Anne signed her name with a cross.

Appears on the 1881 census visiting Albert Judd her son in law and his family at Titchfield. Mary Anne was widowed and 70 years of age.

On 1901 census aged 90. Living at Fairthorne Lodge, with her daughter and son-in-law.
